Author Carlos Whittaker shocked internet users after sharing some of the effects he felt in his body after spending two months without looking at screens.
He revealed the results of his experiment, conducted in the summer of 2022, on the podcast The Dr John Delony Show. During this period, Whittaker chose to spend seven and a half weeks with his family instead of looking at screens.
Two months later, he said his memory had drastically improved. “My memory went from the 50th percentile of adult men in America to the 99th percentile. There were only 1% of men with a better memory than mine when I finished this experiment,” he explained.

Surprisingly, Whittaker’s memory claims are supported by the Stanford Center on Longevity. Studies have shown that increased screen time among adults can harm learning, memory, and mental health.
For this reason, experts advise implementing “digital detoxes” for people, incorporating brain-stimulating activities and encouraging people to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
